Rebecca Gray

Rebecca Gray is full of life and generosity. She gives of her time and always has a smile. She answered our questions with such humorous honesty, I felt it best to share her answers verbatim. Enjoy!
Tell us a little bit about your family. “Two boys. One mama. One frog. The boys spend most of their time chasing each other and creating small piles of chaos. Our house is full of dinosaur noises – “let’s TREX the couch!” – various construction equipment, and a whole lot of sticky, little boy kisses. Mama is first and most importantly a follower of Jesus Christ, and often prays short prayers like “Help!” or “Please let them sleep!” In addition to her day job, Mom also serves as the chief chaos coordinator and occasional cook. We are a messy bunch, but we love each other like crazy.”
Please tell us about your current career; things you love most about what you do. “Which one? My day job is sales for Capstorm, a software company, which I love. My morning, evening, night job is being a mom, which I love most of the time. The best part about the day job is flexibility and working with some of my favorite people in the world. The other job, let’s just say is the worst paying but best career that I plan on doing for the next 60 years + or -.”
What inspired you or led you to your current career? “Day job- had the opportunity to work from home, amazing since I had just given birth to my oldest son. Mom job – I think you can figure that one out without a diagram.”
How long have you lived or worked in our community? “2 years”
What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community? “The people – South Walton has some of the nicest people, from greeters at Smallmart to the random ‘beach friends’ you somehow bump into every other week.”
What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?Cracklings in Grayton. The best breakfast, and I love the people there.”
Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community? “One of my neighbors, Amy. She has a rock solid faith and is one of the most encouraging people I have ever encountered. She is interesting because she is genuine, real all of the time. If she’s having a hard day, she says it. If the sun is shining, and she feels on the top of the world, she says that too.”
If you could choose anyone alive today to have lunch with, who would it be and where would you have lunch?
“Probably President Trump – I would take him down to Blue Mabel for a burger, and thank him for doing his best. He’s been under such constant attack and criticism, that it must be really hard not to be defeated. Do I agree with all of his decisions – No. However, I think he is given very little respect for the position, less than any other President before him.”
What is something on your bucket list? “Licking a fish– oh wait, one of my kids already did that this week. Let’s go with learning to windsurf.”
Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years? “Day job, Mom job….hopefully with kids that SLEEP all night in their own rooms!”
What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you? “I’ve skydived 4 times. Three on the same day…back to back to back. Why? Well why not!”
What is the most beautiful place you have ever been? “My own house, looking at both of my boys. The best view in the world.”
Who inspires you to be better? “Jesus Christ, my sister, my mother.”
Finally, what advice would you give to people? “No matter what, NEVER leave the Roomba alone with the dog if the dog has not pooped yet that day.”
